Maine Public Health Association Presenters: October 2024
GARDINER — Healthy Communities of the Capital Area offered four presentations at the Maine Public Health Association Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Holiday in By the Bay in Portland. This year’s conference theme was “Innovations in Public Health.”
The conference showcased a broad array of programs, projects, and initiatives that aimed to improve individual and community health, and demonstrate strategy, innovation, and creativity in addressing complex public health challenges, according to a news release.
The following were presented by HCCA staff: “It’s Worth the Try: An Innovative Tobacco Quit Support Curriculum for LGBTQ+Youth,” presented by Special Projects Coordinator Adlin Deering and Associate Program Manager April Hughes; “Community Mattering StoryWalk: The Importance of Youth Mattering,” presented by Healthy Eating and Active Living Coordinator Sarah Young; “Public Health’s Vital Role in Creating a Culture of Healthy Aging in Maine Communities,” presented by Executive Director Renee Page with Valerie Jackson from the Maine Council on Aging; and “Leveraging Farm-to-Institution as Public Health Strategy,” presented by Food Systems Coordinator Alida Farrell.
